The stars aligned last week for a Laura Geller haul at Ulta and I wanted to share what I picked up. One of the things I love most about Ulta are the “Beauty Breaks” emails that go out every few weeks. I typically get mine around 11:00 EST and mid week. This is typically when they throw out limited edition gifts, extra points or sometimes even products for half off.
Deals So Good You Can’t Ignore
Last week, I got the following email and had to act. Not only was this a fantastic gift, but Ulta was also running 5x points on all Laura Geller products AND there was a second gift with purchase if you spent $30. So I was able to pick up everything you see above for only the cost of the blush and bronzer.
My Purchases
I’ve had two Laura Geller products on my wish list for a while.
- Beach Matte Baked Hydrating Bronzer in Sunrise Fair – $33.00
- Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Pink Buttercream – $28.00
I’ve read good things about both products and I’ve also lost track of how many times I’ve watched them at Ulta. The bronzer has an incredibly smooth texture and is a great neutral shade for fair skin. It’s not too orange or too cool. The blush is a light peachy-pink that has a shimmer to it without having any glitter. It just adds a very subtle glow to the skin.
All the Goodies
The train case that came with the gift is actually bigger than I thought it would be and seems to be well made. The baked highlighter was a very pleasant surprise. I wore it today and think it gives a very natural, lit-from-within glow. And honestly, the medium foundation shade could double as a bronzer for me. It’s almost the same shade. I thought the Amethyst eyeshadow would be a little darker, but it is definitely lighter than it looks in the pan. But I haven’t tried it on the lid and I know you can frequently wet these colors for more intensity.
The only product that I’m a little iffy on is the lipstick. Because the marling is so intense, when you swatch it you clearly get two colors. So I think this is going to make it a little difficult to apply. It also has some shimmer in it, which while I don’t HATE all shimmer lipsticks, it’s not what I gravitate towards.
The eyeliner seems to be a silvery gunmetal gray and goes on smoothly. I don’t find myself reaching for this color eyeliner very often, but I did like the formula. And if the scrubbing I had to do on my arm to remove this swatch is any indication, this should last for quite a long while on the eye.
