I got downright giddy when I saw the new NARS Pop Goes The Easel collection that had launched exclusively at Nordstrom this past week. These products are limited edition unfortunately, but the colors are gorgeous and worth checking out. My Nordstrom had 4-5 of each product in a special display. So with these quantities, I’m not sure how long they will be available. Thankfully, you can also purchase the collection on the Nordstrom website and Nordstrom always has free shipping and samples with every beauty purchase.
NARS Velvet Lip Glide
These are the products that excited me the most from the collection. Last year, NARS released the Velvet Lip Glide formula as part of its permanent collection. The formula is unlike anything I’ve ever tried. It’s almost like putting a pigmented pudding on your lips. That’s the only way I can think to describe it. It glides on and is slightly glossy, but as you wear it the gloss fades and you are left with a velvety matte finish. It never feels drying and while it’s not as long-wearing as a liquid lipstick, its definitely got some staying power.
I picked up the shades Impossible Red and Suck. Can we just pause here to laugh about that name? All I can think is that it happened during a late night brainstorming session when someone in marketing said, “Uhghg, can we just be done with the naming process? This meeting sucks.” And a name was born. That being said, the shade Suck is a flattering nude shade with peachy undertones. I’ve swatched the shade Bound below for comparison; Bound is part of their permanent collection. Suck is a few shades darker which in my opinion makes it an even more wearable nude for someone with fair skin like myself.
I can completely understand why they named this shade Impossible Red. It’s an impossibly bright red, bordering on neon, but oh, is it flattering next to my pale skin. It’s not a color for the faint of heart, but it definitely is one of those shades you put on and your teeth look whiter and your skin looks brighter. I love it!

NARS Blush
sThere were three blushes as part of the NARS Pop Goes the Easel collection. I picked up the shade Misconduct because the minute I saw it, I knew it would be unique to my collection. I would describe the color as a muted dusty pink with a soft golden sheen. It took bit of heavy swatching to get that much gold to show up below. When applied to my cheeks, it’s more of a satin blush rather than super glowy. It’s nude enough that it’s going to match every makeup look I can come up with, but it’s got enough of a pink undertone that it really does brighten up my skin.
The other two shades were Threesome which was a light pink that seemed almost too light even for me and Peep Show, which was a very pretty rosy, terra cotta color that would be perfect for medium to deep skin tones.
Full Collection
I didn’t pick up any of the cream stick products because creams and liquids are just not my favorite. But the colors were very pretty and if you’re a fan of cream products, they are worth checking out. You can browse the full NARS Pop Goes The Easel collection on the Nordstrom website.
